Police in Mpigi District have launched a major investigation into a suspected case of ritual killings after officers recovered several sets of human remains during an operation in Kamengo.

Katonga Region Police spokesperson Lydia Tumushabe said officers carried out a search in Lunyerere, Kamengo, at about 8:00am this morning, where they discovered two bodies that had been buried at the scene. Police also found several skulls and other remains believed to be human.

All the recovered remains have been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for forensic tests, including DNA analysis and postmortem examinations, to help identify the victims and determine how they died.

Police have asked anyone with missing relatives to report to the nearest station and support the ongoing inquiries.

According to authorities, the operation was prompted by intelligence reports suggesting that the area could be linked to ritual-related crimes, though investigations are still underway to establish the motive and identify those responsible.
