Ugandan business mogul and property magnate, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has unveiled a major redevelopment plan for Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, signalling a new chapter for one of Kampala’s most well-known leisure and hospitality centres.
Sudhir released digital designs showing how the facility will look after the upgrade, revealing a modern complex of high-rise towers and landscaped open spaces. The proposed look marks a clear shift from the club’s current low-rise layout to a more urban, luxury-style development.
The new design features tall buildings with glass fronts, wide balconies and neatly planned green areas, giving the project a mix of city elegance and resort comfort.
The plan is to turn Kabira into a self-contained destination offering accommodation, shopping, dining and recreation in one location.
The redevelopment is being undertaken by the Ruparelia Group through Meera Investments as part of a multi-billion-shilling expansion. When complete, the site is expected to host about 360 serviced apartments, a shopping mall, several restaurants, upgraded sports facilities, a bowling alley, and a modern conference centre. An 18-storey five-star hotel tower is also part of the project. Construction is being handled by Vcon Construction Uganda Limited.
Works are already underway and key structures are projected to be completed this year. The project is expected to change Bukoto’s skyline and raise the standard of serviced accommodation and conferencing facilities in Kampala.
Kabira Country Club, currently rated a four-star hotel by the Uganda Tourism Board, has for years operated as a boutique hotel and recreation spot known for swimming, tennis and events.
The new development will retain these functions while adding high-end residential and commercial spaces aimed at both local and international clients.
The project adds to Dr Ruparelia’s portfolio of large hospitality and real estate ventures, including Kingdom Kampala and Speke Resort Munyonyo, as he continues to expand investments in tourism and property.
Once completed, the revamped Kabira is expected to position Bukoto as an even stronger hub for upscale living, business and leisure in Kampala.
