Who are the Nu Kampala acts gracing B&W’s April Edition?

For every new edition, Blankets and Wine organizers make a selection of fresh faces to perform at the afro-fusion themed music festival.

House of DJ’s has hand-picked a group of lively budding artists who are going to be taking the stage by storm for this April edition slated for April 28. The event is powered by Tusker Malt Lager.

Here are the fresh entertainers on the music scene who will be sharing the stage with the superstars Shekhinah, a South African vocalist, King Saha and bass guitar legend, Sammy Kasule.

1Der Jr began his career in 2010 as one part of rap duo, Cyde-1der, based in Bristol, UK. They released a mixtape titled ‘Skyfall’ in 2012, which featured their hit single ‘Drogba.’ It then captured great attention when soccer legend Didier Drogba endorsed it, uploading it on his social media platforms. 

The song has also featured in a Canadian soccer TV series. In 2014, 1Der JR moved back to Uganda releasing solo singles like ‘Tebatusobola’, ‘Mama Afrika’ and ‘Hallelujah’ which received a nod at the 2016 Uganda Hip Hop Awards for Most Inspirational Song of The Year.

Ahlam Ismail is without a doubt a young music genius, a rising star in the making. She has worked with various hip-hop/trap artistes and producers like KSl, Mio Made, MAFB, Kayce House, Lagum, L-Steel and Ledra to make an impact on the music scene with her distinctive musical genius sound.

Martha Mukisa is a talented Ugandan vocalist. She has constantly been making appearances among crowds within the ‘Woke Generation’ and her fanbase continues to grow by the day.

With songs like ‘Ssebo’ and ‘Kingereza’ hitting the radio waves, she is definitely taking Kampala up by a storm.

Fya Leboof is a beautiful, intelligent, Ugandan female DJ who infuses her mixes with tribal, EDM, house music and afro music forming “Tribal Rave/Afro house,” vibes.

Her tribal mixes will have you in the perfect mood for an afternoon party while out with friends or at a chill BBQ with family.

DJ Kasbaby

DJ Kasbaby

Kasbaby is a popular Ugandan radio DJ who has been in the game since 2014. His skillful mastery of the DJ mixes has had him hypnotize crowds and break into delightful and exciting dance vibes always.

He has owned the DJ spot at many night clubs in Kampala including Wink, Panamera, Liquid Silk, Atmosphere and Alba Lounge.

His mad skills on the turntables will definitely keep you on your feet all day and night.

This edition of Blankets and Wine is sure to leave fan’s thirst for EDM, House and Tribal music quenched with the impressive line-up of vigorous artists set to perform. It is a must-attend as fans enjoy the crispy taste of a cold Tusker Malt Lager come Sunday, April 28 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
