Sam Okanya, once known for his comedy performances with the Da Mighty Family, has turned to ministry after years marked by personal and financial struggles.
Okanya’s comedy career slowed down as he became involved in active politics, a period that was followed by controversy and hardship. He later faced serious health challenges while in prison, undergoing surgery as he battled to recover and rebuild his life.

Now, he says he has found a new purpose in faith. He has founded Emmaus Ministry International, where he serves as a pastor and is calling on the public to join him in worship.
“I am Pastor Sam Okanya. I invite everyone to Emmaus Ministry International,” he said.
Through the church, which carries the message “Coming together is the beginning and working together is progress,” Okanya says he hopes to restore hope and strengthen faith in his community.
He has also surprised many social media users by regularly sharing Bible scriptures and preaching messages online, signalling a complete shift from comedy to full-time ministry.
