Minister for Justice and Constitutional affairs, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire denies the allegation that the age limit bill is packaged as a gift to president Museveni.  He says the country has a number of old people who should not be closed out on contesting for presidency. (The 2017 revision of the World Population Prospects showed the total population was 41,487,965 in 2016 and only 2.5 percent was 65 years or older. )

“102b isn’t about Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni he’s not the only old man. If you’re worried about him, bring your own old men”, Otafiire stated while appearing on NBS TV’s Front Line Show.

“Why are you trying to lock him out? We shouldn’t lock out anyone coz of age. Let them contest.”We don’t choose your leaders, don’t choose for us. 102b isn’t about life presidency.

According to Otafiire, the reason why opposition fear his 1980 bush war comrade is that he has always beat them whenever they go to elections.

“Every 5 years, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni goes back and seats the same exam and comes back as a successful candidate”, explained.
