President Yoweri Museveni has warned against the continued compliance by most Uganda especially those in Kampala in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.

Museveni said people in Kampala have given up in the fight against Coronavirus hence the recent rise in the number of infections. He said the blame is partly on politicians spreading wrong information.

“I have heard that some politicians are saying that there is no COVID-19. If we get evidence, we shall prosecute them,” Museveni said while addressing the NRM Delegates Conference.

The President said though coronavirus is not as dangerous as AIDS, its fast spread should be a very big concern.

“For four months, nobody died. People said the scientists are locking us down to make money. Well, on July 21st, we had the first death. And now we have 15 deaths,” he said.

He urged Uganda to continue adhering to the set guidelines of always wearing a mask in public, not going out to the public with cough and flu-like symptoms, not touching soft parts (mouth, eyes, and nose), washing hands frequently and sanitizing surfaces.

Currently Uganda has 1,560 cumulative cases with 1,165 cumulative recoveries and 15 deaths.
