Man arrested for robbing mobile money agent of over Shs10 million at gunpoint in Busia

Police in Busia have arrested a one  Muluye Hamudan, for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery.

The police preliminary report indicates that on July 4 at around 7:30 pm, Shamusita Tukahirwa, a mobile money agent who operates from Arubaine market, Arubaine B village, Busia municipality, Busia District, was robbed of cash estimated to be over Shs10 million and five telephones.

It is alleged that she was waylaid by two individuals armed with a gun as she disembarked from a boda-boda to a boutique in town.

A day after the incident, police in Busia arrested a key suspect, identified as Muluye Hamudan. Muluye was previously arrested for falsely presenting himself as a Major in the UPDF.

 “Our team of investigators suspects that he could be an impersonator. We are working with our sister agency, the UPDF, to verify that information. Vital exhibits have been recovered during a search, including a Field Force Unit (FFU) uniform and a Ministry of Defence stamp,” said Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma.
