The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Armoured Division based in Masaka.
The announcement was confirmed by Acting UPDF spokesperson Colonel Chris Magezi.
Brig. Gen. Pande Kajuba takes over from Major General Deus Sande, who died on Tuesday after reportedly suffering severe breathing complications. Maj. Gen. Sande had been leading the Armoured Division until his death.
Before his appointment, Brig. Gen. Pande Kajuba served as the division’s Deputy Commander, working closely with the late Maj. Gen. Sande.
In a related development, Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara of the Special Forces Command has been promoted to Brigadier General and named the new Deputy Commander of the Armoured Division.
According to the UPDF, the changes take immediate effect.
