The Ruparelia Foundation will host a three-day free eye care camp at Bukedea Teaching Hospital from March 27 to 29, offering critical eye treatment services to communities across eastern and northern Uganda.
The outreach is being organised in honour of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, celebrating his vision of service and the legacy of compassion he left behind.
The medical camp will be conducted in partnership with specialists from Mulago National Referral Hospital and the healthcare provider C-Care, bringing together experienced ophthalmologists and medical teams to deliver a range of free services.
According to the organisers, the camp will provide comprehensive eye checkups, cataract screenings, reading glasses, children’s prescription glasses and cataract surgeries for selected patients identified during the screenings.
The initiative is expected to benefit residents from several districts including Bukedea District, Soroti, Mbale, Gulu, Lira, Tororo and Kapchorwa.
Organisers say the camp is open to both adults and children, and aims to expand access to eye care services in underserved communities where preventable blindness and untreated eye conditions remain common.
The foundation said the initiative reflects Rajiv Ruparelia’s commitment to social impact and community service, values that continue to guide the philanthropic work of the Ruparelia family across Uganda. Community members in need of eye care services have been encouraged to attend the camp during the three-day period to receive screening and treatment from the visiting medical teams.
