The country woke up to sad news of the passing of prominent businessman Eria Sebunnya Bugembe, popularly known as Kasiwukira.

Kasiwukira who got the moniker after his music cassette selling business was knocked by a vehicle near his home in Muyenga, a plush suburb, as he did his routine morning jog at about 6.20am this morning.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Mr Patrick Onyango, says information from residents indicates incident was intentional.

“Neighbours said that the car parked near the area for some time and it was only driven away when Sebunnya started running.”

“Witnesses say the car sped off after knocking him, and we are now investigating this as a murder case.  He was not at liberty to divulge details like the car number plate, which would jeopardise the investigation.
Kasiwukira was the top seller of music cassettes and he used to buy artistes albums and sell them countrywide in the 80s and early 90s until the arrival of the CD made his business unviable.

He has now been manufacturing tiles and paver under his SEB industries in Najjanankumbi.
Kasiwukira has also been deputy treasures of Kwagalana Group (a club of city tycoons) which is chaired by Godfrey Kirumira. In fact Kirumira was the bestman at his wedding in 2006.

Kasiwukira was valued at about $25m with city properties like Nalubwama Arcade and Temuseo Mpoza on Luwum Street.
