Though he is still wearing his famous “I can’t breathe” T-shirt, Forum for Democratic Change  strongman Rtd. Col. Kizza Besigye can at least breathe a sigh of relief after his “house arrest” directive was lifted by Police boss Kale Kayihura last week.

Besigye is now moving unhindered and this Tuesday morning, he made the first official maiden trip out of his home that had been besieged by police for one and half months, hindering his movements.

Besigye is headed to the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi for the Black Tuesday prayers and already masses are forming around his car, a Toyota Prado UAW 616W with shouts of “the people’s president.”

Besigye lost the disputed February 18, election to incumbent President Yoweri Museveni and last week the Supreme Court upheld the Electoral Commission’s declaration of Museveni as the election’s winner, throwing out a petition by one of the candidates, former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi.

Besigye is expected to address the gathering at the prayers. We shall keep you posted.
