BesiOpposition leader Rtd. Col. Kizza Besigye started his day with a procession from his Kasangati home, with the hope of making it for the Black Tuesday prayers at the FDC headquarters in Najjananumbi but this was not to happen as he was arrested by police at Mulago Roundabout.

Police intercepted Besigye at  the Roundabout as the crowd following him in his Toyota Prado had swelled with people chanting “President waffe” (our president).

He was later briefly taken to Kiira Road Police before switching him to his usual detention home, Naggalama Police Station in Mukono District.

Besigye feels the February 18, presidential elections that returned Museveni to power to extend his 30-year rule for another five years were rigged and he has refused to recognise the results, even when the Supreme Court threw out a petition by another presidential aspirant Amama Mbabazi to annul the elections.
