Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that runs Shell service stations in the country is on a drive to make their fuel stations more about customer convenience than just refuelling their tanks. This Monday morning, they opened a new fast food joint, Prunes Express at Shell Bugolobi. Now you can refill your tank and your tummy in one place.

Speaking at a media breakfast to officially open Prunes Express at Shell Bugolobi, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, Hans Paulsen, said that the company understands that customers, given their hectic schedules, are now looking for more than just a tank fill-up when they drive into Shell forecourts.

“It’s not just about our quality Shell fuels and lubricants anymore, but rather the delivery of a complete service station experience which includes quick meals on the go,” said.

In line with Vivo Energy’s commitment to satisfying motorist and shopper needs, the company has found reputable restaurants who will offer our customers a new Quick Service Restaurant proposition. That’s why this partnership with Prunes Express is so important to us,” said Paulsen.

Prunes opened in Uganda in 2012 at Wampewo Avenue and this is their second outlet and the first in partnership with Shell.

Shell has already rolled out other fast food joints at different service stations like KFC in Kabalagala and Bukoto, Java Coffee House on Lugogo By-pass and Kawa2Go at Jinja Road.

Asked why they are partnering with different brands, Paulsen said it is more about variety and convenience, but quality is not compromised as they are only partnering with reputable eateries. For example, KFC already has a branch at Village Mall, adjacent to Shell Bugolobi and this could not have been an ideal location for them.

The opening of Prunes Express at Shell Bugolobi comes with a promotion that runs until Friday, where customers who spend Shs100,000 on fuel at Shell Bugolobi, between 7am to 9am, will receive a free Prunes Express breakfast. Those who service their vehicles on Saturday 6th February will receive lunch vouchers.
