Musician Bebe Cool has said that it is going to become increasingly difficult for anyone to see him perform on stage, because he has realized he needs to be scarce in order to gain value.

Speaking to Matooke Republic earlier today, the musician said that for example he isn’t going to perform on any Ugandan stage until his Life of Bebe Cool concert scheduled for August at Serena Hotel.

“What I have learned is that when you perform at every small event in town and around the country, people get so used to you and you lose value, with no one looking forward to seeing you on stage again,” Bebe Cool told us. “So now what I have decided, as a father figure in the local music industry, to make sure I have very few stage performances every year, so people will always look forward to seeing me on stage.”

“You have to also realize that a musician of Bebe Cool’s stature and experience shouldn’t be going around performing for those small amounts paid at small events and in clubs around town,” Bebe Cool further said. “I can no longer perform Monday to Friday or have cross-country tours performing on every stage all the time. I only have to concentrate on doing good music so that it keeps circulating and gets me money to even do more good music –you know MTV pays so much for the videos it regularly plays, global music starts book international artistes for highly-paid one-off concerts…’

Bebe Cool added that what he is actually doing is trailblazing in Uganda a model that all big artistes across the world work with.

“It’s called creating value, and those guys abroad understand it. They perform like once in a city in five or ten years, so when they’re coming around the whole city is eager to see them on stage. I’m also creating a case where people,  say in Mbarara, all get eager to see me when I come around, because they enjoy my trending music but if they miss me they have to wait another three years to see me on stage again in their town.”

“Even the Kampala people who miss me at Serena, they will have to wait many months before they can see me perform at any event anywhere around.”
