Hosts Uganda Cranes and Gabon are out of the Africa Cup Of Nations. Uganda Cranes started off impressively against Egypt and the two seemed destined to share the spoils.

However things turned around in the final minute when impressive Uganda’s defence finally crumbled and Mohamed Salah showed a great composure to check his shot and play in Said, who arrived late to power a low shot through the Onyango’s legs and seal a late victory for the Pharaohs.Uganda lost 1-0.

Cranes will now face Mali in Oyem in the final round of the Group D with simultaneous matches played on Wednesday night where Egypt will face Ghana in Port-Gentil.

Cameroon survived a late onslaught to settle for a goalless draw and book a place in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of the host nation Gabon on Sunday 22 January 2017.

Hugo Broos’ men faced a partisan crowd at the Stade de l’Amitie knowing that a draw will be enough to qualify from Group A, regardless of the other result involving Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau.

As expected, it was the host nation that did most of the attack in the early stages, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang guilty of missing a open goal from a Denis Bouanga low cross on 3 minutes.

The two nations proved their worth but failed to progress in a highly competitive tournament that seemed to go in the way of the more experienced teams. Hard luck.
