Matthew and Joseph Kanyamunyu together with Cynthia Munwangari are today morning expected in Kampala high court. They are appearing in court today hoping that investigations are complete so that the trial may kick off.

The trio made an unsuccessful bail application before High court on January 10th. Judge justice Elizabeth Kabanda denied them bail on grounds that they had no fixed place of residence and sent them back to Luzira.

The accused had applied for bail on grounds that it’s a constitutional right. They also promised to respect the bail conditions. However, court ruled otherwise.

Winnie Byanyima, wife to Kiiza Besigye stood as surety alongside Moses Karuhanga, Edith Byanyima,  Martha Byanyima, Peter Muhinda ,and Julius Kanyamunyu.   .

The state of prosecution asserted that there were no exceptional circumstances that would guarantee bail to the Kanyamunyus because they are neither of old age nor sick to be accommodated in prison.

Prosecution alleges that on November 12, while at Game Stores, Kanyamunyu in company of his girlfriend, allegedly shot Akena whom he accused of scratching his car, and drove him to Norvik hospital where he died from.
