Over 60 people escaped unhurt when a Kisoro bound Jaguar bus registration number UAT 710C went up in flames this morning.

The incident happened a few minutes after 7am near the airstrip in Nyakabande, a few kilometres from Kisoro town.

Travellers in the bus say the incident was caused because the driver insisted on driving till Kisoro town after a tyre burst.

“He had no spare tyre so he decided to drive slowly until he could reach town, but the friction caused the fire,” said one of the travellers.

On noticing the smoke, the driver parked and passengers disembarked the bus which later went up in flames.

Police fire brigade put out the fire, but it was too late to save the bus.
