In July this year, a 26yr old Judith Inzikuru together with her lawyer Angufiru Beatrice appeared in court claiming that her son was fathered by Arua municipality member of parliament Ibrahim Abiriga. She requested that court grants her  custody of the child as Abiriga is  ordered to maintain the boy financially.

However Jimmy Madira who represented Abiriga requested for a DNA test before court makes orders. The request was granted by the grade one Magistrate Maureen Mukoya and the matter was adjourned to 18th August for the DNA results.

Thank God for science. The DNA test was carried out and Abiriga was found to be the biological father of the child. The two parties will agree on certain terms and if it’s successful then a consensus will be entered but if it fails then the applicant will be free to go back to court so that the matter is fixed for hearing.
