GULU: Besigye makes surprise appearance, Muntu stands surety for Bobi Wine, Abdul Katuntu leads legal team

Bugweri County MP, Hon. Abdul Katuntu is leading the legal team tasked with delivering bail for detained Members of Parliament charged with treason. 

The other lawyers are Busiro East MP, Medard Ssegona, Chapter Four Uganda’s Nicholas Opiyo and Henry Komakech whose home in Gulu was allegedly raided by security forces on Saturday.

The MPs include Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), Ntungamo Municipality MP, Gerald Karuhanga, Paul Mwiru (Jinja East), Michael Mabikhe, Kassiano Wadri, Arua Municipality MP-elect and 29 others. 

Grounds of bail application are; a presumption of innocence, fixed places of abode, inability to interfere with witnesses and undertaking to abide by any bail conditions and suspects must have substantial sureties.

Former FDC President, Dr. Kiiza Besigye is one of the dignitaries present in Court but Gen. Mugisha Muntu is the man who stood surety for Bobi Wine. Justice Stephen Mubiru is the one in charge. 

Other sureties are his brother Eddy Yawe and Buyanga West MP, Barnabas Tinkasimire.
