Social Media Tax: Bobi Wine’s brother Chairman Nyanzi remanded to Luzira

Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu alias Chairman Nyanzi brother to Kyandondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi(Bobi Wine) was last week on Friday, July 13 remanded to Luzira by Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Esther Nahilya alongside two other people, David Lule and Julius Katongole.

They were charged of holding unlawful protests and inciting violence last week as Ugandans joined them to protest against the new social media and mobile money taxes.

They however denied the charges and applied through their lawyers Richard Lumu and Luyimbaazi Nalukoola  to be released on bail but the Court sent them on remand to Luzira prison until July 24, when they would be returned to court to have their application considered.

The punishment for both offences is one year’s imprisonment upon conviction.

The three were arrested last week in Kampala during the new social media and mobile money tax protests that were led by Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi  aka Bobi Wine.
