‘Noise’ from church

After the assassination of former Buyende-DPC Mohammad Kirumira, President Yoweri Museveni partly blamed a local church for ‘making noise’ which enabled the assailants escape. According to Museveni, police officers attached to a nearby police station stated that they did not hear gunshots because of the ‘noise’ from a church. Kayanja explained that the ‘noise’ does not interfere with police work.

“If you look at the time which the murders are carried out, you realise that those are not hours that overnight prayers take place. Abiriga, Kirumira, and Joan Kagezi were killed between 6pm and 9pm, while Muhammed Kiggundu and Kaweesi were killed in the morning“, he stated.

LDUs are not welcome

Pr Kayanja disagreed with the restoration of Local Defence Units stating that the group were disbanded after they became thieves and perpetrators of crime.

“I doubt whether we need them[LDUs] back. We have had LDUs before but they were disbanded because some of them had become thieves”.

On alleged torture of Bobi Wine and other MPs

Kayanja condemned the alleged torture of MPs; Francis Zaake, Robert Kyagulanyi, civilians and journalists in the recent Arua by-election chaos.

“It is demeaning and a human rights violation. It was wrong for MPs Francis Zaake and Robert Kyagulanyi to be treated the way they were”, he stated.

Invest in intelligence

Kayanja advised the government to invest in intelligence agencies and equip them with better skills and technology.

Shun violence

Kayanja appealed to the masses to desist from violent acts. He encouraged the electorate to use their votes to speak for them.
