In a press conference held on Monday morning, Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has advised President Museveni to desist from calling youths his grandchildren if he won’t extend love and affection to them.

Bobi Wine was referring to the president’s numerous “Letters to Bazukulu” in the wake of the August 13 Arua violence that left one person dead and 33 battling treason charges albeit in immense pain following alleged torture by security forces.

“Mr President, you refer to yourself as Jjaja, and call us your Bazukulu. But most Ugandans who have their grandparents alive always speak fondly of them, because the Jjajas love, protect, and cherish their Bazukulu (grandchildren). They are not always hunting them down for voicing a contrary opinion. But instead, you have become a tyrant and turned us into fugitives in our own country,” Wine said.

The musician cum politician also decried the human rights violations including brutalisation of journalists, youth with red t-shirts and other Ugandans calling upon the security forces to choose the right sides so as not to be on the wrong side of history.

“Respect the rights of the people because just like them, you too were once not in power, and you will not be in power forever. Treat Ugandans the way you would love to be treated. Be a statesman. I hope you can redeem yourself before it is too late. As things stand, history may treat you worse than Uganda’s past leaders who you like to disparage,” he said.
