The family of the late Yasin Kawuma, Bobi Wine’s driver has developed a rift after President Museveni through musician Catherine Kusasira delivered condolences of Shs20 million.

Kusasira visited the family on Sunday but the widows told her that they needed the clearance of Male Sabiti, the late’s brother and the family’s caretaker to receive the money.

However, four of the seven widows were not prepared to wait that long. They stealthily contacted Kusasira and told her they needed the money “very badly.”

They proceeded to meet the musician at Calendar House in Makindye to receive the money.

When Kusasira delivered the money, the widows present went into overdrive on who should get the money. Each wanted their share handed to them immediately.

Because Male (the caretaker) was absent at the meeting, the musician gave the money to the father of the late – Mzee Ssebabi Salamanta – who the widows said could not be trusted as some of them didn’t even know him.

“I know Mzee will not give me that money. I want mine now now,” one of the widows wailed in Luganda as she rolled on the ground.

Ssebabi had no choice but to give in. He handed each of the widows present Shs2million cash.

Brother wants police report

When Male finally learnt of the cash bonanza, he was saddened and warned the widows to be mindful of where the money is coming from and the motive behind.

“Let the government first give a report on the death of Kawuma before we can start talking of money,” he said.

Kawuma was shot dead on August 13 in Aruan by alleged security forces. He is survived by 11 children and seven wives.
