Ugandan born Nabulime voted first black City Councillor in Waltham, USA

Ugandan born Sharline Nabulime is the new Waltham City Councillor after winning beating her opponent in a tight election. 

Nabulime who moved to the US in the early 90s won the seat left by Robert Waddick by 384 votes compared to her opponent’s 299.

She will become the first African-American to sit on the Waltham City council.

Nabulime raked in the most votes during the primary. But Durkee who came in second place was endorsed by third-place finisher Chuck Smerlas, so the race was predicted to be close.

Robert Waddick held that council seat for a decade before stepping down in May.
