In one of the oldest traditions in Korean history, North Korean President, Kim Jong Un has donated – as a peace offering – a pair of Pungsan hunting dogs to Moon Jae-in, the South Korean President.

According to Korean media, the dogs—named Songgang and Gomi—were gifted, along with almost seven pounds of food to help them settle.

The Pungsan Dog, also commonly called the Korean Poongsan or Korean Phungsan originates from North Korea and has wolf in its lines. This hunting dog was said to hunt panther. They were used for military purposes.

This is not the first time dogs have been given as gifts between the two countries. In 2000, Jim Jong Il gave two Pungsan puppies to South Korean president Kim Dae-Jung.
