Breaking: Uganda Cranes beats Cape Verde 1-0 to qualify for Afcon

Uganda Cranes have done it! Uganda Cranes went in the game in need of just a point to qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

However, the boys capitalised on the home advantage playing in-front of fans eager to witness history-yet again as Cranes makes a second successive qualification to the cream of African football showcase for the first time since the 1970s.

Uganda Cranes overcame a resilient Cape Verde team at Mandela National Stadium in a hard-fought victory. Patrick Kaddu, the day’s hero found the net in the 79th minute with a header past Thierry Graca. Kaddu met Godfrey Walusimbi’s cross from the left wing to direct the ball into the far right corner and the header sealed Cranes journey to Cameroon.

Uganda Cranes maintains its out of reach position at the summit with 13 points. Uganda Cranes will be playing for pride in the final group match against Tanzania as the neighboring nation plays hosts.

Congratulations boys! Cameroon here we come!
