Only four local players make cut to Uganda Cranes’ final 23 man AFCON squad

The wait is finally over as Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre today named his 23 man squad for the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt.

Only four players in the Uganda Premier League have are set to travel to Egypt. These are; Timothy Denis Awany, Patrick Henry Kaddu and Allan Kyambadde from Kampala City Council Authority Football Club and Sports Club Vipers’ Tadeo Lwanga.

KCCA’s duo Sadam Juma and goalkeeper Charles Lukwago are some of those that have been left out.

Cranes will play their final build up against Cote D’Ivoire this Saturday, before flying to Egypt.  Uganda was drawn in group A with hosts Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe.

Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango (18), Jamal Salim Magoola (19), Robert Odongkara (1)

Defenders: Murushid Jjuuko(4), Bevis Mugabi (5), Isaac Muleme (20), Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (16), Wakiro Nico Wadada (14), Joseph Benson Ochaya (2), Timothy Denis Awany (3), Godfrey Walusimbi (15), Ronald Mukiibi (12)

Midfielders:  William Kizito Luwagga (10), Khalid Aucho (8), Mike Azira (23), Faruku Miya (17), Tadeo Lwanga (6)

Forwards: Allan Kateregga (13), Lumala Abdu (22), Emmanuel Arnold Okwi (7), Patrick Henry Kaddu (9), Derrick Nsibambi (11) and Allan Kyambadde (21)
