Uganda’s representatives Kampala City Council Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) and Sports Club Vipers yesterday bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup after failing to turn second leg results in their favour.

A hard-boiled tie between KCCA FC and Democratic Republic of Congo’s AS Otoho at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo was played amidst a heavy downpour.

However, the Kasasiro boys’ 2-0 victory was not enough to overturn their first leg 3-0 away loss.

On the water-soaked artificial turf, Coach Mike Mutebi’s boys started the game on a high-tempo as Muzamiru Mutyaba and Patrick Kaddu hit the target in opening 15 minutes only to be kept away by Otoho’s goalkeeper, Ngobo.

Nevertheless the yellow boys continued pushing and in the 63rd minute Patrick Kaddu got their first goal before the hosts getting a penalty that was successfully converted by Allan Okello.

Despite the victory, KCCA bowed out of the competition at expense of the Congolese side by 3-2 on aggregate.

Another Ugandan side, Vipers SC also played later away against Tunisian side, Club Sports Sfaxien. The Tunisian giants did not give the Venoms any chance to dream about advancing to the next round as they led 2-0 at halftime.

By the final whistle, Vipers had been condemned to a 3-0 defeat shuttering their dream of make a maiden qualification to the competition’s group stages.
