With the opposition (especially the People Power camp) more hopeful than ever of ousting President Museveni in the 2021 polls; National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Northern Region, Sam Engola, has hit back at them emphasizing that Museveni is here to stay, and added that every Ugandan should support President Museveni to stay because Uganda will become worse than Libya if President Museveni is to leave abruptly.

The State Minister for Housing says that because President Museveni is a very hardworking leader, there will be a lot of trouble in Uganda if he is to leave power abruptly.

“When a hardworking leader like Museveni leaves power, there is destined to be trouble. Because of the nature of Ugandans, whom I have seen since 1962, we shall even be worse than Libya. People will burn tyres, there will be looting, we have to take that into consideration going into the 2021 elections,” Engola told the media earlier today.

Engola added that because of the risk that Uganda faces should Museveni abruptly lose power, the incumbent president should rule on ‘forever’. Engola also said there is no need for President Museveni to appoint a successor, because he is still around and doesn’t need top go away.

On the upcoming 2021 election, Engola reckons that despite the noises from the opposition, President Museveni is destined to have a landslide win against his opponents.

“In 2021, President Museveni is going to get more votes than what he has been getting. People like him more,” Engola said.
