Uganda Cranes qualifies for AFCON round of 16

Despite the 2-0 defeat in their last Group game against hosts Egypt on Sunday, the Uganda Cranes progressed to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations knock out stages for the first time after 41 years.

The Pharaohs topped the group with maximum points (nine) with Uganda second with four points. The third-placed Democratic Republic of Congo now awaits all games to finalise so that it can also determine its fate of qualifying to the round as one of the four best losing teams. Zimbabwe was the rock bottom team with one point.

Police on hunt of two boda boda killer suspects

Police is hunting for two unidentified suspects for killing a boda-boda rider on a Saturday night in Rubaga Division. The suspects were captured on video of a CCTV camera strangling the rider before countlessly hitting him with a stone on the head killing him instantly and making off with his motorcycle. Police decided to circulate the video to help in the identification of the two suspects as it Homicide and Flying Squad department is on the hunt to arrest them. 

Parliament passes Landlord-Tenant Law

Last week was a busy week for the House as they passed two bills, one of which is the Landlord-Tenant Bill that aims at improving relationships between the landlord and the tenant. Among the clauses of the bill is one that prohibits landlords from charging rent in dollars. The Bill also instructs landlords to make a written agreement with the tenant if the monthly rent is Shs500,000 and above. President Museveni’s signature is pending to confirm the bill as a law.

Party goers brave the rain at ‘Story Tellers’ edition of Roast and Rhyme

Story Tellers edition of Roast and Rhyme managed to warm the drizzly Sunday weekend as Kampala’s favourite event lived to the billing. The rains only derailed the party goers to make their way to Jahazi Pier Munyonyo but at around 6 pm the venue was filled up. Jose Chameleone, Patrick Salvador, Sam Kimera and Tamba entertained the cheerful audience with their live performances.
