Police have tasked a team of detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) particularly the homicide wing to investigate the kidnap and subsequent death of musician Michael Kalinda alias Ziggy Wine who was a member of the Fire Base Crew and People Power Movement.

While speaking to the press at police headquarters in Naguru, police spokesperson Fred Enanga first revealed that police and Ziggy Wine’s family are yet to coordinate but the force has already opened the dead inquiry file to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ziggy’s death.

“If the postmortem is retrieved and it indicates he died on unnatural causes, we shall make sure his family gets justice,” Enanga said.

He disclosed that since there are allegations that Ziggy Wine was unconsciously dumped at Mulago, police has engaged Mulago Hospital to help them with CCTV footage to identify the vehicle or even individuals who might have been involved in the act.

It is alleged that Ziggy was kidnapped three weeks ago, tortured, his eye plucked out and his fingers chopped off. He died at Mulago hospital last night.
