World Football governing body, FIFA has banned little known Ugandan player George Mandela for match-fixing.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee found Mandela and three Kenyan footballers; Moses Chikati, Festus Okiring, and Festo Omukoto guilty of “unlawfully influencing match results.”

“In particular, given his central role in the conspiracy, the player George Mandela, Uganda, has been banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level (administrative, sports, or any other) for life,” reads of FIFA’s statement.

For the three Kenyans, they have been banned for four years without taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level (administrative, sports or any other).

The incidents happened last year when Mandela was playing in Kenyan Premier League with Kakamega Homeboyz, a team that was by then under Ugandan coach Paul Nkata.

Club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula acted the whistleblower claiming the players had fixed matches against Sony Sugar and Mathare United.
