Tough KCCA enforcement team tasked to enforce closure of bars, discos, concerts

Apart from the Military Police, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) enforcement team is arguably the toughest security unit in the country.

This is probably why the Minister for Kampala Betty Amongi has tasked them with the job of making sure all bars, discos, sports events, music shows, cinemas, and concerts of any kind are closed with immediate effect, as per President Museveni’s directive.

The directive to close all these events and venues that usually have large crowds of people came as a precaution aimed at safe guarding the country against the deadly coronavirus, although no infection has been recorded yet.

The Minister said that the even bars that are located inside hotels should be closed, and that “Anyone who fails to abide shall face the legal consequences.”

This will stay closed for a period of 32 days, and it could be longer than that depending on how the virus will have spread after the 32 days. We are all hoping it does not get to that.
