With a few days left to the return leg of the CAF Champions League tie between Vipers Sports Club and Sudan’s Al-Hilal, six Vipers SC players have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus from the tests that were carried out yesterday.

The six players include; club Captain Halid Lwaliwa, Abdul Karim Watambala, Abraham Ndugwa, Geoffrey Wasswa, Milton Kariisa and Livingstone Mulondo. The players will definitely miss the return leg slated for Sunday, December 6 away in Sudan.

The Venoms are trailing 1-0 from the first leg tie that was played last week at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. The SUPL champions need a 2-0 win away in Sudan to advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League.

However, the news of their players testing positive for COVID-19 is a huge blow to their dream of making history of becoming the second Ugandan club to make it to CAF Champions League group stages.

Nevertheless Head Coach Fred Kajoba has a pool of talent players to look at as replacements for the group that tested positive for the coronavirus.
