After attending the second day of the Annual Parliament Week yesterday, a section of Members of Parliament majority from the opposition decided to spend the night in Parliament chambers as a sign to condemn the assassinations of people especially legislators.

The group was led by the Leader of Opposition Betty Aol Ochan who said there has been a long debate on Police and army brutality, assassinations and mafias in the Police force but the concerned ministries have failed to come out to address the issue in detail.

“We can only go home if the criminals are dealt with. Mafias should protect themselves, not the Ministers doing it for them. Our actions are for the citizens of Uganda. We need to love Uganda and we have to think outside the box,” Betty Aol Ochan said.

She added; “The Security Minister promised to come back with something that will satisfy us because if not, we were all going to rebel.”

MP for Rukungiri Municipality, Ronald Mugume accuses government of keeping quiet when MPs are dying and others being issued death threats.

“There is a reason why we slept here, our colleagues have died, Police have not produced any report and this is a big problem,” he said.

Minister Evelyn Anite, Idah Nantaba, Sylvia Rwabwogo and Simeo Nsubuga among others have all come out to reveal how they are being served with death threats.
