18-year-old Juma Nzora, a former student of Jinja Senior Secondary School is currently nursing wounds at Mulago Hospital following an incident where four school guards allegedly beat him up to coma.

According to Juma’s father Pastor Anthony Wejuli, his son had gone back to the school to participate in the Inter-House Competitions. While at the school, one of the askaris found him talking to the girls at the school premises and he immediately started beating him up.

The scuffle attracted three more askaris who continued to beat Juma until he descended into a coma. After seeing foam in Juma’s mouth, they rushed him to Jinja Main Hospital where he got first aid before they referred him to Mulago for scans and further treatment.

Juma’s relatives claim that since then, they have contacted the school to know why their son was beaten but the Headmistress, Diana Nyago claimed not to know about the incident before asking them to involve Police and arrest the guards.

The askaris were arrested and later released on Police bond.
