Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) councilors have today gone to polls at City Hall to elect their first Speaker to preside over all council meetings, a role that has been played by the Lord Mayor.

A total of 32 votes have been cast and People Power’s candidate councilor Muhammad Ssegirinya only gathered one vote and it happens to be the one he cast himself.

Independent candidate, Abubaker Kawalya from Rubaga division won the race with 17 votes while Forum for Democratic Change (FDC’S) Nyanjura Doreen came second with 14 votes. No invalid vote was registered.
