Buganda Kingdom donates Shs100m to Gov’t as contribution to buy relief food for the vulnerable poor

Buganda Kingdom has donated Shs100 million to the Government of Uganda as a contribution to the National Task Force to help them in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The cheque was handed over by Prince David Wasajja to the COVID-19 Response Team headed by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda

The donation will be used to purchase food relief items that will be distributed to the vulnerable poor during the lockdown.

After the outbreak of COVID-19 in Uganda, many loyalists have criticized the Kingdom for failing to come out to help the people who are at the brink of starvation during this worrying situation.

A series of city tycoons have come out and contributed cash, vehicles and other essential items to the National Task Force. These include; Dr Sudhir Ruperalia, Hamis Kiggundu and SK Mbuga among others.

Today Tuesday at 8 p.m., President Museveni is set to address the nation for the eighth time about coronavirus. Uganda has 52 confirmed cases so far.
