Despite police coming out last week to strongly refute claims that Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Francis Zaake suffered torture in the hands of security operatives, Jinja Municipality East Constituency legislator, Paul Mwiru who is said to have been allowed access has revealed that Zaake is very unstable.

Speaking during a press conference held at People Power headquarters in Kamwokya, Mwiru said that their colleague was tortured while in detention.

According to Mwiru, MP Zaake who currently at Iran–Uganda hospital in Naguru is not responding to treatment as he was severely tortured before being sprayed with dangerous chemicals that have made him lose his sight.

Mwiru revealed that doctors at Naguru have recommended that Zaake must be transferred Nsambya Hospital for further medical examination on his eyes and treatment.

The youthful legislator was arrested a week ago from his upcountry home in Buswabulongo, Mityana in a combined security operation. He was accused of distributing food to his starving electorate in this ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, an activity which has since been banned by President Museveni saying it exposes people to coronavirus.

Today Court is set to seat and decide whether to or not to release him.
