As Government is looking into extending the lock down, experts on national COVID-19 response team are said to have met with President Museveni yesterday on Saturday.

Sources reveal that the experts advised Museveni to extend the lockdown for more 14 or 21 days. Experts based their advice on the fact that health professionals are conducting assessments across the country and need more time to fully ascertain the condition on the ground before the economy is given full green light to reopen.

Two community cases have been confirmed in Masindi during the random testing and experts told Museveni that it should be a huge concern.

Nevertheless, sources say they warned Museveni about prolonged extension since many Ugandans have been home for a long time and have nothing to feed on.

According to our sources, a cabinet meeting is set to be held tomorrow on Monday morning to decide on the issues raised before Museveni makes his nation address on the same day at 8pm.

Cabinet will also discuss on whether to reduce on the restrictions for example by allowing private businesses to operate. On Friday while giving his Labour Day speech, Museveni, hinted on a new directive of the population being ordered to move with masks.

Uganda has 88 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 52 recoveries and no death registered.
