Uganda has confirmed new COVID-19 cases as 32 new patients were registered on Monday, June 1. The new cases, according to the Ministry of Health, bring the total confirmed cases to 489.
Among the new cases 19 are truck drivers; 14 from Elegu, two from Malaba, two from Busia and one from Mutukula while 13 cases were among contacts and alerts.
The Ministry says all the 106 samples of health workers tested negative for COVID-19. Uganda has 79 recoveries and no deaths.
Yesterday President Museveni continued to ease the lockdown with malls and public transport being allowed to operate under strict guidelines. However, districts at border areas are exempted from the new guidelines.
Museveni also reassured that government will distribute free masks to all citizens in the country starting on June 10, and thereafter, no one will be allowed to appear in public places without wearing a mask.
