Following a panicky incident that happened at their headquarters on Friday last week, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has decided to start mandatory testing of all their staff for COVID-19.

On Friday, four of KCCA staff exhibited signs and symptoms of coronavirus and they were evacuated by the national COVID-19 task force. It was later confirmed that they tested positive for COVID-19.

This prompted the acting Executive Director Andrew Kitaka to issue a directive for all their staff to be tested. He also ordered some of the staff to work from home as the Health Ministry handles the situation.

KCCA Spokesperson Peter Kaujju says despite the situation, their offices are open for services.

Office of the Prime Minister is almost in the same condition as KCCA as many of their staff have been forced into self-isolation including Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda. This is after some of Rugunda’s contacts tested positive for the deadly virus.

In a similar situation, Cabinet Ministers have all been tested for coronavirus and as of now, no one has been confirmed positive.
