Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has asked the Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng to appear before Parliament and explain the allegations that she flouted the ministry of health guidelines and Presidential directives.

This follows the concern raised by Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Ssemujju Nganda during today’s plenary session.

Ssemujju said that Police is applying the law selectively as he was arrested for organizing a “small meeting,” Dr Aceng is being protected while she was organizing what he has called a “rally”.

Similarly the Speaker wondered why government has continued to maintain the “lock-down” despite the achievement of flattening of the curve. She has called upon the Gov’t to lift the lock-down and allow Ugandan to go back to work subject to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Meanwhile, government today agreed to reopen a total of 47 arcades that have met the SOPs. This has been disclosed during a meeting attended by Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde, KCCA Minister Betty Amongi, Security Minister Elly Tumwine and arcade owners.
