Two NRM secretariat staff test positive for COVID-19

News coming in indicates that two of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat staff have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.

“This morning, two of our staff at the NRM Secretariate tested positive for COVID 19. They have been admitted to Hospital for proper care.
We are working with the technical people and further guidance will be given in due course. I urge everyone to stay alert, healthy and safe,” Kasule Lumumba, the NRM Secretary General has posted on his official social media platforms.

Today the Ministry of Health has confirmed five (5) new COVID-19 cases taking the cumulative confirmed cases in Uganda to 1,140. Among the five new cases, four are alerts from Kampala Metropolitan area while one is a contact of the confirmed case.

Additionally, eight (8) foreign truck drivers (7 Kenyans and 1 Tanzanian) tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted. The total recoveries in Uganda have risen to 1,028 with only two death registered.

The ministry has urged the public to report any suspected signs and symptoms of COVID-19 to the Ministry of Health toll free lines on 0800-100-066.
