Uganda registers 155 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

Uganda has recorded its second highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single a day as the ministry of health has confirmed 155 new cases. A week ago, Uganda recorded its highest single day infections and they were 318 cases.

Amongst the 155 new cases; 140 are alerts and contacts (71 from Kampala, 12 from Kikuube, Jinja -8, Wakiso -8, Mbarara -6, Mukono -6, Tororo -5, Gulu – 4, Kitgum – 3, Pader – 3, Kisoro -2, Buikwe -2, Luwero -2, Bundibugyo -1, Busia -1, Isingiro -1, Kasese -1, Kapchorwa -1, Kiryandongo -1, Kyegegwa -1 and Mbale -1).

Nine health workers have also tested positive for the virus; six from Kampala, two from Wakiso and one from Jinja. Additionally five truck drivers were also found with the deadly virus. Currently Uganda has 2,679 total cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The ministry also reported two (2) new COVID deaths taking the total COVID-19 deaths to 28. The total recoveries stand at 1268.
