Prominent city lawyer, Oscar Kihika, who is the head of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) legal team says his department is making all the necessary preparations to address the post 2020 party primaries petitions.

Kihika claims that the primaries were 98 percent successful as they were held without any chaos or any form of rigging. He however reveals that by the close of business yesterday the department had received and filed over 100 petitions challenging the election results.

He anticipates that the petitions will not exceed 150 since voting was transparently conducted as voters had to line up behind candidates.

“By this time in 2015, we had over 1000 petitions. But the party decision to make voters line up behind candidates solved many problems,” Kihika says.

The NRM primaries that were conducted last week on Friday are described by many as violate and were marred with bribery and rigging.

Many defeated candidates have come out to contest the results and vowed to run as independents if the party fails to address the raised concerns.

On Monday, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said they are investigating a total of 27 violence incidents that occurred during the NRM primaries across the country.

He said four deaths were registered, 16 people severely injured while 25 arrested for participating in violence.
