Over the weekend, Police in Mityana used teargas to disperse members of Mbogo Clan (Buganda Kingdom) who had gathered at their ancestral site (Mugulu Ziggoti) for their leader Gajuule Kayiira Kasibante’s thanksgiving prayer.

On Monday, the Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga apologised to those that were affected but maintained that the teargas incident was intentional.

However while appearing on NBS has said that the apology was necessary for accountability purposes but not an  admission of the force’s wrong doings.

Enanga also added on that the teargas happened five meters away from the venue where Hon. Zaake was holding a presser.

“The picture that is being presented is that we used teargas at the venue of the Mityana Clan Meeting. It is not true,” said Enanga
