Last week reports were making rounds that Forum for Democratic Change was coming to terms with the possibility of not fielding Dr. Kizza Besigye in the forthcoming presidential race.

Leader of opposition in Parliament Aol Betty Ochan came out and sounded to be confirming that FDC will not be fielding their ‘usual’ candidate against President Museveni claiming that FDC is not a one man’s party. Ochan also stated that Besigye had told the party leadership how he wants to create room for another person to express interest in the position.

Dr Kizza Besigye.

Wasswa Birigwa, the FDC party National Chairman is however saying otherwise as he insists that no decision has been made about Besigye standing again.

“Don’t rule out Kizza Besigye in the forthcoming presidential race, said Birigwa. He added that the reports that Dr. Besigye will not be running in the 2021 presidential elections are speculative.

Birigwa also disclosed that the party has not received any communication from Dr. Besigye, and therefore that window is not closed.
