On Monday, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) announced closure of picking nomination forms for its members vying for political offices in the forthcoming elections.

Dr.Tango Odoi, the chairperson of the party Electoral Commission (EC) said by close of business over 2000 had picked nomination forms for various elective positions. He ruled out the possibility of extending the exercise as he said those who missed out will wait until 2026.

According to our sources, NRM collected nomination fees worth Shs4 billion.

Tanga Odoi said the return of nomination forms begins on Monday and only aspirants will be let in at the NRM secretariat on Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.

“They will be asked to come alone with just the photocopies of their documents,” Dr Tanga Odoi said.

“We are very keen on how our candidates are behaving in this COVID-19 era. If you violate the COVID-19 rules then we doubt what type of leader you will be,” he added.
