Two weeks ago the top leadership held a meeting at their headquarters to discuss who will be their presidential flag bearer in the 2021 General Election.

Our sources tipped us that the top officials were proposing plan B candidates if Besigye turns down chance to stand again. Amongst the options were Birigwa, Party President Patrick Amuriat, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Secretary General Nandala Mafabi among others.

A week ago, Amuriat publically announced that if Besigye offers himself to stand again, the top party organ already agreed that there will be no party elections for presidential race flag bearer.

Ibrahim Semujju Nganda, the FDC party spokesperson referred Amuriat’s remarks as a wish, and not in the constitution of the party.

Currently, Police has deployed heavily at the FDC head offices in Najjanakumbi.
